What We Promise Our Schools and Colleges
The schools and colleges that Master Class Education serves can be sure that:
- All of the staff that Master Class Education supplies are systematically screened to standards exceeding those that supply agencies are legally obliged to observe.
- That goes for daily supply, long-term or permanent needs. This is critical in what is a high-risk sector.
- Master Class Education doesn't cut corners. It always errs on the side of caution.
- If you have a justified complaint about a teacher or lecturer then you may be given a free day’s cover.
- We pay very generous finders’ bonuses to those who introduce us to schools, colleges and teachers.
BEFORE TEACHERS ARE DEPLOYED FOR SUPPLY, LONG-TERM OR PERMANENT POSTS WE ALWAYS:
Run a full CRB check in the UK, even if candidates claim to have not been here before. - Make a List 99 check to ensure that candidates are not blacklisted teachers or lecturers.
- Require criminal clearance from a candidate’s home country if they’re not British.
- Make a face-to-face photo ID check (using a passport and/or driving licence) during an interview.
- Require proof of a candidate’s ID in another form such as a birth certificate.
- Need a list of residences for the last 5 years.
- Need two separate proofs of a candidate’s current address (e.g. bank statement, utilities / council tax bill).
- Need proofs of qualification to teach and/or lecture (ideally the originals, and English translations may be required).
- Ask for details of three referees including one who can assess work in a candidate’s most recent teaching post (the training establishment is used where the candidate is a Newly Qualified Teacher or NQT).
- Check that teachers and lecturers have a National Insurance number (NINo).
Ask for proof of GTC registration – very much recommended though not yet a legal requirement. - Need to see a marriage certificate (where there is a name change).
- Make checks on current CVs to establish reliability and explain any gaps in employment.
- Need proof of eligibility to work in the UK and confirmation of a candidate’s right to reside and work here.
NB We will, of course, always notify schools and colleges beforehand in writing of any incomplete checks if a candidate is to come into a school or college for an interview. A reply in writing (a fax is acceptable) is required beforehand from the school or college to confirm that they understand the situation and will supervise the candidate for the entire duration of their stay on the school or college premises.
