Teaching and Learning Assistants

Established in 2007 we operate as follows:

  • Learning AssistantMaster Class Education only deploys teaching / learning assistants who have been vetted in the same way as its supply teachers and lecturers.
  • No formal qualifications are needed to be a teaching / learning assistant.
  • Experience of working in a classroom is essential and could be gained by undertaking voluntary work at a local school. 
  • Teaching / learning assistants must be able to demonstrate work experience gained in a child-care setting within the last two years. 
  • Teaching / learning assistants must be able to provide references to cover that period (i.e. two years’ work experience in a child-care setting).
  • Teaching / learning assistants provide extra support where relevant to individual pupils and groups.
  • Teaching / learning assistants may work in referral units, S.E.N. schools and mainstream schools. 
  • Teaching / learning assistants may, depending on the setting, work with any age group.
  • Teaching / learning assistants may be required to plan and write reports as well as devise individual education programmes. 
  • Teaching / learning assistants will be expected to attend meetings which are an important part of this role.
  • Teaching / learning assistants may be required on a long-term basis (i.e. for six weeks or more) or on a short-term basis (i.e. day-to-day). 
  • Teaching / learning assistants may also be offered work outside term-time, on holiday and/or play schemes.
